Get tickled by a mo

November is the month of the moustache. Get ready to see your favourite footy stars, and TV personalities scratching their upper lip – it’s on! Since 2003 over 5 million moustaches have sprouted during the month of November. And while it’s a fun and fresh campaign that’s hugely successful around the world, we appreciate the tireless work that goes on behind the scenes.

Leading charity changing the face of men’s health

Movember is a year-round charity, although November is a big fund-raising month for them. They fight for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer 12 months of the year. On average, men die six years earlier than women, of largely preventable diseases. Men account for 75% of all suicides, unchecked prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years, and testicular cancer is now the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. These are sobering figures. 

Giving men a voice

Movember is addressing this crisis globally. They fund ground-breaking projects engaging men to understand what works best and accelerate change. They exist to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives – and are currently operating 1,250 men’s health projects. They are the voice of men in distress, and they know what men in crisis need to hear. So, they work by challenging the status quo, and shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. By 2030 they aim to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25%.

Movember takes it all on

Movember invests money in trialling new cancer medicines and scanning equipment, they help train men with online tools to figure out how to have difficult conversations, they work with mental health professionals on how to talk to men in crisis. 2020 has been a tough year for everyone, but for vulnerable people it’s been a crisis. Charities like Movember need our support more than ever, to keep doing the great work that they do. So, we’re going to grow some dodgy facial hair this month, and we’re going to sport our half-baked mo’s with pride because we’re going to do our bit. Movember is a great charity that is tackling issues that affect us all. We’re happy to donate $1 for every order this month.
